About Us

Anthony Jones

Owner Operator

Began water jetting 1988 Gladstone, QLD.
Started with large capacity HP pumps (650hp) and various others
Trained in various jetting techniques such as pipe cleaning, tank head
work, heater tubes, hydro- demolition and hand lance operation. Pressures to 1,000bar /14,500psi.
Moved on to UHP (Relates to equipment capable of delivering a water jet traveling twice the speed of sound at pressures in excess of 1700 BAR or 26,650 PSI) in 1995 on the Gove Peninsula NT with surface prep and paint of the Alcoa export wharf, a large 3-year project.
With a keen drive to further my understanding of UHP water jetting, I arrived in WA and was fortunate enough to receive valuable mentoring under Tim Everest.
Offshore 2001-2005 Chalis and Jabiru venture:
(Newfield Exploration Timor Sea Northwestern Australia)
Employed by Newfield Exploration to train a team of 10 members in water jetting, pump operation and
maintenance. Project: to remediate and extend the working life of com pany assets and infrastructure.
Established in 2006 UHP Solutions:
Anthony and Melody Jones
Offering high end water jetting services to various industries Australia wide.
Our philosophy:
Teamwork! Each team member is seen as an important asset to not only UHP Solutions but the water jetting industry itself, after all these young operators are the future and will be the face of water jetting in the years to come.
We are very conscious of the type of person it takes in developing a good water jet operator. Let’s face it. Water jetting is ‘high risk” and rightfully so. Serious or fatal injury can and will occur if equipment is not respected or operated correctly.
UHP Solutions training is undertaken at a minimum per AS/NZS 4233.1:2013

As a veteran operator of almost 40 years, I have a high respect for the commitment it takes to excel in the industry and carefully oversee our small team and their development.

In my experience, the current training standard to qualify as an operator is not enough (120 logged hours qualifies an assistant to become an unsupervised operator of HPWJ systems).
In my years of operation, I have seen the good and the bad and believe high pressure water operation should be considered a trade, requiring many years of knowledge and training to safely operate these powerful machines.
It is for this reason we keep our team small; this enables one on one training, 100’s of hours are committed to our staff, working with them, and refining their skills with an outlook for them to become the best they can possibly be. For me personally I hope they choose water jetting as a career and remain in the industry to pass on their knowledge to the next generation.
As each operator refines their skills, I encouraged them to pass on what training they have absorbed to the next upcoming operator. I believe this creates a sense of pride, leadership, and responsibility. This maybe old school but unfortunately as the years go by, I see the number of truly skilled operators on a decline.
Above all, our operating practises are carried out within all AU/NZ safety standards and guidelines without compromise.

CIL/Adsorption tanks

Some may promise high productivity or quality of work however our track records are a true indication of actual capability. Below is an example where we were called to finish a CIL tank that another company had been unable to adequality complete. Our superior finish is on the right

Here at UHP Solutions we deliver both high productivity and quality of work. The proof is in the finish (please see below photos). Our track record speaks for itself, with consistent performance at various sites over the years: KCGM, Sunrise Dam, Genesis Minerals, Bluebird, Pontoro, Plutonic, the list goes on with well over 100 tanks to our resume.

Our Blue-Collar clients, see typical handover times for UHP blasting as:

3-6 working shifts on tank sizes between 400 & 500m2 – UHB/Poly

5-9 working shifts for tank sizes 500 & 900m2- UHB/Poly

Understanding the refurbishment process helps keep QC of our work as good as it can be thereby keeping sandblast and paint application times to a minimum. This results in predicted schedule times staying on track.

We achieve this through investing in the latest technology. We have access to an arsenal of pumps & equipment. We know our equipment capabilities; Operators are trained in the correct use of this equipment and spend many hours maintaining the assets under my guidance. We carry enough spare parts to mitigate most common onsite machinery issues, minimising downtime.

Sag & Ball Mills

These are major assets with significant financial losses during shutdown and unexpected rebuilds.
UHP solutions are often engaged for these types of critical path maintenance programs.
Past performances prove our ability to perform the required tasks within time essential schedules and programmes.
We carry an extensive range of UHP jetting equipment and accessories. This allows us to select the right tool combination with the right pump and performance ability to best match the product that requires removal.

Hydro-Demolition

Easiest way I have found to explain. Take a block of ice and hit it with a hammer, Shatters!

Take that block of ice and run it under a tap, Melts! Hydro-demolition will behave in a comparable way to running a block of ice under a tap.

High pressure water removes the unwanted concrete from the asset leaving behind a sound structure without micro cracking defects.

When we take a jack hammer to a concrete slab or structure there is a high possibility the concrete will show impact signs of damage known as micro cracking.

Bearing this in mind, hydro jetting is an excellent choice if you need to preserve integrity of your assets.
Advantages of Hydro-demolition
  • No micro-cracks in the remaining structure, leaving a long-lasting repair of high quality
  • No vibrations, dust
  • Allows selective removal
  • Rebars are clean and intact
  • Improves bonding between old and new concrete.
  • Significantly faster than mechanical jackhammering & without the musculoskeletal risk

Abrasive waterjet cutting

Working together with Water Cut Australia (WCA), UHP Solutions are regularly engaged to remove & abandon gas and oil wells.

Campaigns are performed Australia wide with several well-known clients such as Chevron, Santos, AWE, Origin Energy & Stat Oil.
Purpose built jetting tools are custom designed for these challenging tasks.
Site: The Montara field, located off the Kimberley coast, 250 km (160 mi) north of Truscott airbase, and 690 km (430 mi) west of Darwin.
Client: PTTEP
Overview: The Montara oil spill was an oil and gas leak and subsequent slick that took place in the Montara oil field in the Timor Sea, off the northern coast of Western Australia. Considered one of Australia’s worst oil disasters.
The slick was released following a blowout from the Montara wellhead platform on 21 August 2009 and continued leaking until 3 November 2009.
The leak was stopped by pumping mud into the well and the wellbore cemented thus “capping” the blowout. The West Atlas rig operated by PTTEP Australasia, was operating over on adjacent well on the Montara platform.Sixty-nine workers were safely evacuated from the West Atlas jack up drilling rig when the blowout occurred. Shortly after, fire engulfed the rig.The Montara oil leak was estimated to have lost as many as 2,000 barrels (320 m3) day.
Task: To access H4 oil well for cap and seal.

West Atlas was now attached to the Montara platform, a result of heat due to fire with the jackup rig now requiring removal.

With residual hydrocarbons and likely gas discharge due to leakage an inert form of cutting was require ensuring no reignition, UHP Solutions were for the works on the H4 oil well for capping and plugging via Abrasive waterjet cutting.

Two horizontal cuts of 160 deg around the well and two vertical cuts of 1700mm were placed through the 30mm wall thickness to allow for the removal of the 700kg window.

Site: Thevenard Island, located approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) off the coast of Onslow in the Pilbara region of Western Australia

Client: Chevron

Overview: First explored in the late 1960s, Thevenard Island has been home to the Chevron-operated Thevenard Island Joint Venture oil and gas facility located around 22 kilometres from Onslow.

The facility commenced producing oil in 1989, with approximately 150 million barrels of oil produced over its 25-year life until production ceased in 2014. The area will be returned to the WA Government once it is restored to a condition similar and compatible with the adjacent environment.

Task: to remove 13 redundant oil wells via internal cut, up to 4mrts below low water tidal level.
